Dr. Ashla Thomas
Specialist Pediatrician
Dr. Ashla Thomas is a DHA Licensed Specialist Pediatrician with over 15 years of experience in caring for children of all ages. Dr. Ashla is academically oriented and keeps up to date on developments in her field of expertise. She received her MBBS in 2004 from Medical College Thiruvananthapuram, University of Kerala, and her Post-Graduation in Child Health in 2010 from Madurai Medical College, Dr MGR University of Tamil Nadu. Dr. Ashla is also a Member of the Royal College of Physicians Child Health (MRCPCH) in the United Kingdom since 2015.
She has acquired Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Clinical Skills Training, and GP Licensing Exam from Health Authority, Abu Dhabi. She is a member of both the Indian Medical Association and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics.
She started her medical career in 2006 as a Junior Physician at S.K Hospital in India. In 2010, she was employed as a General Pediatrician at Al Salama Hospital in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Then, in 2012, she worked as a GP Pediatrician at Al Kamal Polyclinics in Abu Dhabi. Whereas in 2017, she moved to Credence Hospital in India to work as a Consultant in Pediatrics and Neonatology (Tertiary Level NICU). In 2019, she was a Consultant Pediatrician at IMB Hospital in India, and in 2021, she was promoted to Consultant in Pediatrics and Neonatology (Tertiary Level NICU) at KJK Hospital in India. She was appointed as a Specialist Pediatrician at Al Barsha Al Noor Polyclinic in Dubai, UAE in 2022.
Her time at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has gained her extensive knowledge in the basic assessment of newborns. She gained the skill of managing preterm or sick term babies in level 3 NICUs and well-baby check-ups. Aside from that, she has a wealth of experience in monitoring children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development from birth to adolescence, treating children with minor, acute, and chronic health problems, and administering medications, vaccinations, and other specialized procedures.
Dr. Ashla has substantial pediatric knowledge from her experience working at Multispecialty Hospitals and Tertiary Level NICUs in India and the UAE, including OPDs, inpatient management, emergency care, and supervision of sick newborns in Tertiary Level NICUs. She is dedicated to supporting the well-being of young patients and aims to establish a supportive environment for them.
Dr. Ashla is also dedicated to remaining current on pediatric medical breakthroughs and adopting evidence-based procedures. She believes in building long-term relationships with her patients and their families and empowering them with education and guidance.
